Bella's next stop was Washington DC. Unfortunately we couldn't fly with Lufthansa from Chicago to DC so ended up having to fly with United (or it might have been American, though one is as bad as the other.) Having coped brilliantly with a long transatlantic flight this short hop should have been a breeze but she ended up at Washington National Airport very stressed, not least because the baggage handlers dumped her kennel on the carousel.

Once we got her away from the airport she calmed down and quickly settled in to our new apartment. In these pictures she is learning to appreciate the thick, soft carpet, quite a contrast to her years of tarmac, concrete and dirt. Taken on 14 March 2008.
